Residential Services Manager (Children and Young People)

£46,514 - £51,208 (Grade M)

Carmarthenshire County Council provide a range of specialist residential services for children and young people. This includes Llys Caradog and Blaenau Respite centres and Garreglwyd Children’s Home.

We are in the process of modernising these services and in the future this will involve:

1.Upgrading existing buildings
2.Re-developing provision in new buildings
3.Developing outreach and community based services
4.Exploring regional service provision.

The Residential Services Manager (Children & Young People) will act as Responsible Individual under the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 for our residential services and lead a programme of change to meet the needs of children and young people in the future.

The Residential Services Manager will play a lead role in developing and delivering new residential services for Children with Complex Needs. This includes the development of regional provision and provision for children with Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties

The post will also oversee a programme to support young people with Additional Learning Needs/complex needs to access suitable education and learning opportunities in Carmarthenshire after the age of 16. We want to ensure that young people can become as independent as they can and access suitable opportunities within their communities when they finish their further education.

You will be a confident leader experienced in managing change. You will have knowledge of delivering services to disabled children and young people in residential services. You will be confident in overseeing the management of complex case work in line with relevant legislation, national and local procedures.

The ability to communicate effectively in Welsh is required to accomplish this post. Support can be provided on appointment to reach this level.
