An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Inclusion Department in a new, innovative role as the departments Post 16 Transition Officer. The role will entail taking a strategic role within the local authority to support the planning and management of strategic plans – Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for Post 16 children across the county. We are looking for a professional person with experience in the field of Post 16 Education, including Further Education and pedagogy and additional learning needs provision and management. You will be required to advise a wide range of professionals and families on the new statutory framework for ALN and processes to support the implementation of ALN Transformation.

We are looking for a suitably experienced professional this may include a teaching qualification or equivalent in another relevant area. The individual will have extensive experience, show dedication, resilience, and determination to ensure the best outcomes for young adults with ALN. You will be organised, hardworking, and have excellent interpersonal skills. You will communicate clearly and be able to develop good working relationships with young children, their families, and a wide range of other professionals.

You will be expected to assist the ALN Process Manager with the implementation of ALN Transformation and to support IDP process developments. If successful you will work with colleagues within the department to develop a new way of working and drive the Council’s innovative approach in meeting the needs of learners in a person centered manner. You will join a dedicated team of professionals who work closely with school improvement colleagues and school practitioners on a shared purpose. Opportunities to collaborate on a regional and national level will be available.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated person to work directly with the Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Managers and Inclusion team to support and advise schools, Further Education and Higher Education settings in the delivery, recording, monitoring and evaluation of provision for learners with ALN. To assist the ALN Managers in monitoring and challenging to maximise the use of ALN funding using data. To assist in the training of a range of professionals and parents - including the use of person centred planning, Individual Development Plans, provision mapping and pupil progress tracking and individual areas of need. You will assist with implementing ALN processes and the Inclusion Panel.

The ability to communicate effectively in Welsh is required to accomplish this post. Support can be provided on appointment to reach this level.
