Environmental Development Officer
£28,672 - £32,910 (Grade H)
We are looking to recruit someone who can play a vital role in the delivery of varied and exciting development schemes within Carmarthenshire. Working with a range of stakeholders and partners within the Council and beyond, you will act as an operational officer providing specialist scientific and technical support on issues relating to Land Contamination and Air Quality across the County. This will ensure that environmental and public health impacts are fully considered and are adequately addressed.
You must be enthusiastic, effective, a diligent self-starter and be passionate about the delivery of excellent public sector services. You will be required to have the necessary skills to deal with challenging situations, interpret/present complex information, to offer practical advice and carry out enforcement as required. You’ll need to be innovative in your approach and problem solve issues by working collaboratively with others. The ability to be a good communicator is essential.
The successful applicant will work in the Pollution & Wellbeing Team but will be expected to form and maintain excellent working relationships with those in other Teams, and external partners.
You will need to be fully aware of all legislation, guidance and good practice in this area of work and how they are applied. You will also be expected to ensure that local and national policies and strategies are ingrained in all that we do.
This post will require you to have obtained a degree in a relevant subject area, together with significant experience of working within this field.
