Transportation & Highways / Parc Myrddin
£28,672 - £32,910 (Grade H)
An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, flexible individual to join the Highways and Transport Division to support the Highways Asset Manager and assist the Senior Engineer in the delivery of Highway Asset Management Services and in the planning, development and control of the structures and geotechnical maintenance function across the County of Carmarthenshire.
Specifically, you will provide key technical support to the Senior Engineer in overseeing the daily management of all structural and geotechnical assets including structural inspections, maintenance programmes and project works, together with the update, development and management of accurate information systems and records.
As part of the role you will be required to undertake monitoring of sub-standard structures across the county, undertake reactive structural inspections and prepare detailed reports.
You will over-see the daily workload of our Highway Structures Inspectors and manage both planned and reactive bridge maintenance work as well as coordinating service requests. Applicants should be qualified to HNC or equivalent in a Civil Engineering related discipline or have demonstrable and relevant alternative experience. You will have up to date computer skills with a good working knowledge and experience in information technology including Microsoft Office, database systems, and basic Autocad.
Experience in the maintenance of highways structures is essential along with proven project management skills and the ability to prioritise service objectives against conflicting demands. Applicants must have relevant experience of civil engineering construction and highway maintenance operations.
You will have a good working knowledge of health and safety legislation, CDM Regulations 2015, and legislation in relation to Highways and Structures Asset management.
A basic knowledge of Welsh is required to accomplish this post. Support can be provided on appointment to reach this level.
