Being part of the Carmarthenshire Home Care Team, you will wear your uniform with pride, as you support some of our most vulnerable residents in our local communities. You can make a real difference; your support will enable people with care needs (mainly but not exclusively elderly) to live in their own home when it has become too difficult for them to manage alone.
We have excellent rates of pay; we pay you to travel between calls plus 45p per mile for car costs. We have a highly rated pension scheme, generous holiday, maternity & paternity allowances. Home Carers do work some weekends and bank holidays (it’s a 365 day a year service). Carers regularly working some weekends receive the higher rates of pay, and hours worked on a bank holiday are paid at double time.
Mobile phones are provided to all our Home Carers to access their rosters and information about what’s happening in the service and the wider county council, including staff discount schemes.
Being a Home Carer, your duties will include providing personal care (supporting people to bath, wash, dress, use the toilet), meal preparation, giving medication, we also can help someone with their rehabilitation to help them regain their independence.
If you have any previous experience of working in a residential home, home care, or health care, we are particularly interested in hearing from you.
No experience? If you communicate well with others, bring a positive attitude to work, and want to make things better for people in need of our care, we can offer you training and support to fulfil the role.
Being a Home Carer is the most rewarding job. You will gain invaluable skills and experience. We have lots of training and development opportunities. So, whether you want to be a Home Carer as a long-term career, if you want to spend some time being a Home Carer to gain crucial experience and important skills before embarking on a different career in social care, the wider world of work, or higher education, we do want to hear from you.
Home Care workers are required to register with Social Care Wales. We will give you all the support and help you need to become a registered social care worker Registration | Social Care Wales
