Local Environmental Quality Advisor 

Temporary up to 31/03/2023 due to Grant Funding

£20,092 - £23,080 (Grade E) 

Carmarthenshire County Council are looking for passionate, enthusiastic individual who shares a vision of a clean and beautiful county that is cared for by residents and visitors so that everyone can enjoy.

The Local Environmental Quality (LEQ) Advisor will support the; waste, cleansing and enforcement teams to ensure improvement in Local Environment Quality (LEQ) on matters such as; fly tipping, littering and dog fouling across the County of Carmarthenshire. The post holder will be required to undertake the role of community engagement to improve on negative behaviors relating to LEQ issues. Championing community inclusion through engaging activities with residents in local communities to assist in raising awareness and educating people on keeping their area clean and its importance. Promoting the adoption of behavioral change techniques with stakeholders and LEQ champions within local communities to provide tools to enable local communities to rekindle and enhance the pride in their local area. Working with volunteers, officers from the local authority, Keep Wales Tidy and partner organisation to allow proactive members of the community to support changes for good local environmental practices to embed within local communities. 

You will be an excellent team player with the ability to work effectively with others and confident in your approach. You will need to have an assured approach to liaise with Local Members, Town/ Community Councils, Community Groups, partner organisations and members of the public to assist in resolving local LEQ issues and be a point of contact to establish proactive initiatives in local areas in collaboration with key stakeholders.

You will need an understanding of legislation and guidance relating to local environmental quality and of Carmarthenshire’s recycling, waste management and cleansing services.

You will need to be able to accommodate flexible working patterns which may consist of weekend working on occasions.

The project namely; ‘Caru Cymru’ has received funding until 31st March 2023 through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.’
