Temporary contract for 2 years in the first instance 

Part Time / Term Time Vacancy: 27.5 hours per week

The Governing Body of YGG Parc y Tywyn wish to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced person as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 supporting a pupil in mainstream education - Year 3 class.

The successful candidate will be required to : 
work with a designated child to support learning across the whole curriculum as directed by the class teacher and / or ALNCo
Work closely with the ALNCo and classroom teacher in planning, implementing, monitoring and reviewing and to demonstrate initiative,
establish a supportive, caring and secure relationship with the child, promoting respect, self-esteem and a positive attitude
develop knowledge and understanding of the specific academic, emotional and behavioural needs of the child and respond to them effectively
prepare resources to aid classroom activities and to support the individuals’ needs 
help class teacher with other aspects of the classroom as and when required

This role is very rewarding and equally challenging. The ideal candidate will have experience working with ASD students, in KS2. Energy, enthusiasm, patience and a sense of humour are a must.

We are seeking a highly skilled colleague who has proven experience of working with ALN pupils. We are looking for qualities, skills and experience to include:
knowledge of the needs of ALN pupils, in particular knowledge of ASD would be an advantage;
the ability to deliver bespoke support across the whole range of curriculum areas, in collaboration with teaching staff;
establish positive relations with the pupils and assist them to work independently;
to assist with the development and implementation of the child’s Individual Development Plan;
to be empathetic to our pupils' needs whilst having the drive to encourage them to meet their potential; 
the ability to work well within a team;
ICT skills that enable you to make the best use of new technology to support teaching and learning;
excellent interpersonal skills; 
the ability to speak Welsh is essential.

A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be requested for this post.

The successful applicant will need to be registered with the Education Workforce Council for Wales before appointment.
