Exciting Opportunity – would you like to make a difference and assist us to improve our learning disability services?
Following the temporary secondment of the Service Manager Complex Needs and Transition, we are looking for someone to undertake this role on an interim basis. The post will be the senior manager responsible for social work services for disabled children, disabled young people and Children’s residential services.
This arrangement offers a great opportunity to explore your leadership ambitions in a highly challenging yet equally rewarding environment. We will be interested to hear from qualified social workers who have management experience of learning disability services and managing change.
Carmarthenshire County Council’s vision is to provide ‘Through Age’ services for Disabled people. We implemented the first phase of this vision in 2020 by introducing a ‘Through Age’ model for Disabled Children, Young People aged 0-25 and their Families (Job specification attached)
We are now entering the second phase which will bring our adult Learning Disability Teams together with our 0-25 team and Children’s Residential services under one Senior Manager. A key objective for the successful candidate will therefore be to bring these services together.
As well as the operational responsibility this is a key strategic role which will work across Council departments and closely with partners in Hywel Dda University Health Board, Education, Welsh Government the Independent and Third Sector.
As a service we are committed to the approach of co-production so the postholder will work closely with parents, carers, children, young people, and adults who use ourservices in implementing our vision.
